Qaid Farhan Alkadi spent “326 days in captivity” after being kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October. After Such a long time The Israeli Forces have managed to rescue him from the Hamas group who held him as a hostage in southern Gaza.
The Rescued Hostage
After a “complex operation” in southern Gaza, the IDF reported that Qaid Farhan Alkadi, 52, is in stable medical condition and is being sent for check-ups at a hospital. In a statement, the Hostages Families Forum stated that his “return home is nothing short of miraculous”. “Ended 326 days in captivity,” it stated. Mr. Alkadi, who was employed as a security guard at a packing plant in Kibbutz Magen—one of the farming settlements that was assaulted in October of last year—comes from the Bedouin population, which is primarily Muslim. Eleven children are born of his two spouses. Arnaldo Alkadi, an IDF spokesman, said that Mr. Alkadi was saved from an “underground tunnel following accurate intelligence.”
“We will pursue the return of our hostages through all possible means,” he declared. It is estimated that Hamas still holds 108 captives, of whom around one-third are believed to be dead.
The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, the Israeli security agency, stated in a statement on Tuesday that additional information could not be released “due to considerations of the safety of our hostages, the security of our forces, and national security.” As a result, the complete circumstances surrounding Alkadi’s rescue were not immediately apparent. They claimed Alkadi was being moved to a hospital for examinations and that his health was stable. They claimed that his family has also been informed. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a video on X showing Alkadi’s family members rushing to meet him at a hospital.
Other Hostages Held By Hamas
After the strikes on October 7, which resulted in about 1,200 deaths and about 250 hostages being taken into Gaza, more than 100 hostages are thought to be held captive by Hamas, according to Israeli officials. It is thought that at least one-third of the people detained in Gaza are no longer alive.
At least four of the 108 hostages referenced by the forum are thought to have been detained in Gaza since 2014. It is thought that the remaining individuals were captured on October 7. While four hostages, including 26-year-old Noa Argamani, were liberated by Israeli troops in a daring rescue operation in June that left a trail of death and damage in its wake, Hamas released dozens of hostages during a brief cease-fire in November. Alon Shamriz, Yotam Haim, and Samer Talalka were three Israeli hostages who were erroneously shot and murdered by IDF troops in December amid fighting with Hamas in the Shijaiyah neighborhood of Gaza.
