Sen. Jacky Rosen of Nevada has won her re-election against Republican Sam Brown, a veteran of the Army in a hotly contested race.
The Associated Press reported that Rosen won by 47.8% to 46.4% as reported on Nov 9, 2024. Her win is a much-needed victory for Senate Democrats after other states knocked back the chances of Senate Democrats while retaining the control of the Senate.
Rosen, a former computer programmer and synagogue president, won her second term; Brown, a Purple Heart recipient and business entrepreneur, hoped to flip the swing seat in Nevada for the GOP.
Rosen’s Win a Key Victory for Senate Democrats
A narrow win over challenger Sam Brown has given Senate Democrats the crucial victory of Jacky Rosen, who yesterday became the second of three Democratic women elected to Nevada’s congressional delegation.
Rosen’s victory with 47.8 percent of the vote gives strength to the Democratic party in the Senate even as the party faces losses in Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Known for her bipartisan agenda, Rosen appears to have taken a different route than has been the norm in the Senate. Her victory means the Democratic Party will carry on into the 119th Congress with only the thinnest of majorities.
Sam Brown’s Fight: A Resilience Tale and Political Ambition Story
Sam Brown’s story-inspired journey from Army veteran to Senate contender changed the dynamic of this race in Nevada: His truly inspiring comeback story, sparked by near-fatal injury in Afghanistan, defined his campaign and resonated with voters looking for leadership that is not beholden to the status quo.
Although Brown’s military credentials and personal resilience really rang, his political campaign wasn’t without its woes. Though initially endorsed by Donald Trump, the challenge against the more established Rosen was too great, leaving him to take 46.4% of the vote.
