Since Vice President Kamala Harris joined the presidential race, her campaign said they have raised $540 million last month, Highlighting a boost in donations during the Democratic National Convention as the party rallied around its new ticket.
“Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, campaign chairman wrote in a memo.
“The Convention Was a Galvanizing”
The Chairman says the campaign is using these resources to maintain momentum as they head into Labor Day, “The Convention was a galvanizing moment for the Harris-Walz coalition throughout the country, energizing and mobilizing volunteer and grassroots donors alike.”
“Immediately after her speech, we saw our best fundraising hour since launch day,” the Chairman noted
The total fundraising was raised by Harris for President, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees.
During the week the campaign noted that it raised $82 and characterized the convention contribution as “unprecedented grassroots donations.” As per the Campaign most successful fundraising since the launch came after Harris delivered her strong speech to accept the presidential nomination.
Trump Seems To Be Outpaced
Although Trump has shown strong fundraising abilities, he seems to be outpaced behind in Harris’s month-old campaign. Earlier this month, Trump’s campaign and its affiliates announced they had raised $138.7 million in July, which is less than what Harris secured during the first week of her White House bid. As of the beginning of August, Trump’s campaign reported having $327 million in cash on hand.
O’Malley Dillon noted that nearly a third of contributions during convention week were from first-time contributors and marked young voters were up to one-fifth of those first-time contributors and women were up to two-thirds, The campaign focuses on key groups that are considered critical constituencies for Harris. These are the voters she needs to turn out to secure a victory in November.
During convention week, The supporters signed up for up to 200,000 volunteer shifts to help the campaign during the convention week and the campaign noted that they have seen the sudden rise of volunteer support for Harris.
