Group Stage Lineups for Call Of Duty MW 3 at Esports World Cup revealed

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III event is set to be featured at the Esports World Cup, featuring nearly every Call of Duty League team and a few Challengers teams. The tournament, set to kick off on August 14 and end on August 18, has revealed the groups for the tournament, revealing which teams will face each other first.

Tournament at Riyadh

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, a first-person shooter video game, will have a competition in the 2024 Esports World Cup, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from August 15 to 18, 2024. 

Saudi Arabia announced the inaugural Esports World Cup in October 2023, replacing Gamers8, the previous esports festival. The event was part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the country’s economy and reducing oil reliance. 

Call of Duty content creators, including Scump, promoted the event since October 2023. 

On June 12, 2024, Warzone and Modern Warfare III, the current Call of Duty titles, were revealed as the twentieth and twenty-first games at the event. Due to the announcements coming close to the roster acquisition deadline, organizations were given two extra weeks to sign teams in both Call of Duty titles.

This event will feature sixteen teams, including eleven of the twelve Call of Duty League teams, four Challenger teams, and one from a MENA qualification.

Format of Tournament

The 16 teams will be divided into four GSL-style groups, each with a best-of-5 map series. The winners and runners-up advance to a single elimination playoff bracket. 

The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be best-of-5 map series, while the grand final will be best-of-7. 

The top eight teams in the event (those that advance to the playoffs) will earn Esports World Cup Club Championship points. Each organization can qualify for the Club Championship if they place in the top 8 of another EWC event, and the winning team’s organization can also win the Club Championship if they place in the top 8 of another tournament.

This stage will be held on August 15 and 16, 2024.
