Microsoft and Ubisoft are collaborating to resolve crashing issues affecting several Ubisoft PC games, including Star Wars Outlaws and three Assassin’s Creed titles, on Windows 11 PCs updated to version 24H2. While Star Wars Outlaws has already received a temporary fix alongside a major update introducing gameplay improvements, players are advised to avoid manual updates to Windows 11 24H2 until comprehensive fixes are implemented.
Ubisoft Games Affected by Windows 11 24H2 Update
In the aftermath of installing Windows 11’s 24H2 version, several Ubisoft titles have been said to crash on Windows 11 PCs. These titles include Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and three Assassin’s Creed titles—Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Players experience crashes, such as black screens and freezing of gameplay, forcing the use of the Task Manager to close the game.
Ubisoft and Microsoft are currently working to address these problems. The Star Wars Outlaws has been provided with a stopgap solution to prevent crashing, but performance may yet suffer from that problem. Microsoft has cautioned users not to update Windows 11 24H2 manually unless the bug is squashed for these games.
Temporary Fix for Star Wars Outlaws and Other Titles From Ubisoft
Ubisoft recently released a version 1.4.0 update for Star Wars Outlaws. It included several lingering issues, as well as new stealth gameplay mechanics and quality-of-life changes. However, despite these improvements, players still face crashes on Windows 11 24H2. Fortunately, Ubisoft has implemented a temporary fix to mitigate the problem. What this update brings is few crashes and minor performance hiccups sometimes.
To this end, Microsoft has issued a “compatibility hold” on affected PCs, asking users to refrain from manual updates to the system using tools like the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or Media Creation tools. Both parties are taking action to correct full fixes on all impacted Ubisoft games.
