WWE had hyped Giovanni Vinci’s return with vignettes showcasing his new persona. It has created excitement among fans who remembered his previous NXT work. However, the former Imperium member faced a surprising setback when Apollo Crews rolled him up for a pinfall in SmackDown.
Apollo Crews’ win over Giovanni Vinci on WWE Friday Night SmackDown was a surprise. This outcome might have been intentional, as he wins rarely with Triple H and WWE officials possibly believing that Crews needed the win more than Vinci did.
Looking at his past victories, the last time Crew claimed a victory was in a singles match on RAW or SmackDown on June 4, 2021, where he defeated Kevin Owens in 12 minutes.

Fabian Aichner is an Italian professional wrestler. He was born on 21 July 1990 in Pfalzen. Vinci is currently signed to WWE and performs on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Giovanni Vinci. In 2017 he signed with WWE and joined the group Imperium. Moreover, he claimed a two-time NXT Tag Team Championship with Ludwig Kaiser, his Imperium teammate.
Moreover, under the independent circuit, he gained a two-time Evolve Champion and one-time NEW World Heavyweight Champion.

“They did so much hype on this guy, and then to have him lose in three seconds, I don’t want to sound like Vince Russo, but Bro! What the heck are they doing with him? It was a real shock that they had that go in three seconds. I hope they are doing this to elevate Apollo Crews,” said Apter.
