Meta’s popularity in the AR/VR headset market has surged, particularly following the launch of Apple Vision Pro. As Meta prepares for its major annual event, Meta Connect 2024, the company is anticipated to unveil a variety of new hardware products, particularly within the AR/VR framework.

New Line Of Smart Wearable Devices

Scheduled for September 25 and set to be live-streamed on platforms like Facebook, Meta is anticipated to unveil its newest lineup of smart wearable devices, enhanced with AI technology.

Here’s what we can expect from the upcoming Meta Connect 2024 event:

Do you recall the Snap AR Spectacles recently unveiled by Snapchat? Meta may introduce a similar pair of wearables. Leaks suggest that these AR glasses, internally referred to as Orion AR glasses, are designed to provide a seamless augmented reality experience and are likely to function as a standalone device. Additionally, Meta recently reaffirmed its long-term partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the company behind the well-known Ray-Ban brand, indicating that the upcoming Orion AR glasses are expected to be manufactured by Luxottica.

In terms of features and capabilities, Meta’s Orion AR glasses are expected to operate similarly to a Meta Quest, likely featuring a holographic-style display for each eye. They should be more comfortable to wear and use, particularly in outdoor settings. Additionally, the glasses are anticipated to come equipped with cameras and microphones, along with integrated AI functionalities.

Anticipated Launches At Meta Connect 2024

In a recent Threads post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg nearly confirmed that the company’s first AR glasses will be launched at the upcoming Meta Connect 2024 event.

The Meta Quest 3 is already a more affordable VR headset compared to the Apple Vision Pro, but at $499.99, it still falls on the pricier side. Reports suggest that Meta is developing a budget-friendly version, likely named the Quest 3S, which could be priced around $300 and may serve as a replacement for the Quest 2, originally launched in 2020.

Another product that Meta may unveil at the Connect 2024 event is the upgraded Meta-Ray-Ban smart glasses, which could feature a new design, enhanced battery life, and improved audio performance. Additionally, these glasses are expected to include new AI functionalities and may become available in more markets following the event.
