This innovative tool will alert customers in real-time about suspected spam communications, providing a comprehensive solution to safeguard their privacy and security.
Dual-Layer Protection for Enhanced Security
Airtel’s spam detection solution features a dual-layer protection system, with one filter at the network layer and another at the IT systems layer. Every call and SMS passes through this AI shield, ensuring maximum security for customers.
Gopal Vittal, the Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, claims that The solution, which is intended to provide dual-layer protection, consists of two filters: one at the network layer and another at the IT systems layer. Each SMS and call is routed through this two-layered AI barrier. Every day, our solution handles 2.5 billion calls and 1.5 billion messages in 2 milliseconds. This is the same as applying AI to process one trillion records in real time.
Accurate Identification of Spam Communications
Airtel’s proprietary algorithm analyzes various parameters, such as the caller or sender’s usage patterns, call/SMS frequency, and call duration, to identify and classify calls and messages as “Suspected SPAM.” By cross-referencing this data against known spam patterns, the system accurately flags potential spam communications.
The AI-powered solution also alerts users to malicious links received via SMS. Airtel has created a centralized database of blacklisted URLs, and every SMS is scanned in real-time to warn customers about suspicious links. Additionally, the system can detect anomalies like frequent IMEI changes, which are typical indicators of fraudulent behavior.
Comprehensive Protection for Airtel Customers
Airtel’s AI-powered spam detection solution has successfully identified 100 million potential spam calls and 3 million spam SMSes originating every day. This groundbreaking service is automatically activated for all Airtel customers, ensuring comprehensive protection without the need for any additional action.
