The fighter openly shared that not only did Rooney graciously extend his congratulations on her remarkable victory, but he also went above and beyond by kindly offering to carry her bags and even attending her celebratory after-party, forming a memorable connection that transcended sportsmanship.
She described him as a “proper hero”
Rooney, the renowned football star, radiated sheer delight as he stood by to show unwavering support to Molly McCann and Liverpudlian fighter Paddy Pimblett following their triumphant wins at UFC London in 2022.
During his stay in London for a riveting soccer match, he graciously took the time to venture backstage to personally congratulate the fighters and revel in their remarkable successes. McCann, truly touched by Rooney’s genuine nature, labeled him as a “true hero” given his humble demeanor and sincere passion for the sport of UFC.

She said “He’s one of my mates to be fair – a hero you can look up to… He came in our changies and came to the after party with us – carried my bags as well. He’s just normal. He’s a proper hero. Blew my mind, blew my mind.”

Former UFC champion Michael Bisping, known for his outspoken views, notably asserted that former England captain Wayne Rooney possessed the skill and grit to potentially outshine YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a boxing showdown.
Bisping emphasized Rooney’s exceptional athleticism, unwavering discipline, and indomitable toughness, proposing that despite the evident size differential, Rooney could vellicate Paul in a challenging bout.
Rooney has boxing experience and has previously expressed an interest in the sport. He even walked former world champion Ricky Hatton to the ring during one of his battles.
Bisping said “Wayne Rooney is nowhere near the size of Jake Paul. But one thing we know, he’ll have tremendous footwork. This is a man that’s competed at the highest level of sport. He’s got the dedication and the discipline.”
He also added “He’s a scouser and they’re tough people. Rooney is used to having a row, he grew up in a tough part of Liverpool and he’s had many street fights and if he had a really good coach to take him under his wing, he can beat up that YouTuber all day long.”
