Jenna Ortega is definitively setting the record straight by addressing the wildest self-promotion rumor she’s come across. The talented actress recently shared insights into a particularly outrageous rumor involving a supposed secret romance with Johnny Depp.

“I wanted everybody to leave us alone”
In an interview, Jenna Ortega said “Probably that I was in a serious relationship with Johnny Depp, and I wanted everybody to leave us alone. It’s so insane to me. Like, I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that. Articles really do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that that was pretty hilarious.”
The actress disclosed during the conversation that her co-star Richard E Grant had given credence to the unfounded rumors. She said “I was on set with Richard E. Grant, and he came up to me and he just said, ‘Oh, so you and Johnny?’ And I laughed because I… I don’t know that person,”
“He has never met her or spoken to her”
When celebrity gossip site Deux Moi revealed that Ortega and Depp were out on a date last summer, the rumors about their covert affair took off like wildfire.
Johnny Depp’s representatives released a statement, it read “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumours that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”
During the conversation, Ortega also disclosed her first celebrity crush. She said “I always say my first crush was Barack Obama — it was — it was during his first election, and I was smitten.”
