Who is Mia le Roux?

Mia le Roux, born in Sasolburg, Free State in 1996, was raised in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, and currently resides in Rosebank, Cape Town. Previously named as one of the top 30 semifinalists in May 2024, Le Roux’s journey to the crown culminated on 10 August, when she was declared the winner, making history as the first deaf woman to achieve this prestigious honor.

Miss south Africa a heated controversy

Mia le Roux’s rise to the Miss South Africa 2024 crown comes on the heels of a heated controversy that saw Nigerian-affiliated model, Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, withdraw from the competition. Adetshina, of Nigerian and Mozambican descent, became the focal point of a nationality scandal in July after advancing to the Top 16. Despite securing a spot among the Top 11 finalists, she recently exited the pageant amidst allegations from the South African Department of Home Affairs that her mother may have been involved in fraud and identity theft.
