According to a new book published by New York Times reporter, Anupreet Das, Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates was not allowed to be alone with the young interns as he was “flirty” and like a “kid in a candy store,”
“Not unusual for Gates to flirt with women”
The book titled as “Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and His Quest to Shape Our World, put restrictions on Gates’ interactions with young interns amid flirtation accusations.
As per the book, it was “not unusual for Gates to flirt with women and pursue them, making unwanted advances such as asking a Microsoft employee out to dinner while he was still the company’s chairman,”
Gates couldn’t have harbored feelings for his ex-girlfriend
The book also alleges and added that infidelity left his then-wife Melinda French Gates resentful “seething for a long time.”
A New York Times report stated that the issues started shortly after their 1994 wedding when Gates couldn’t overcome his feelings for his ex-girlfriend, tech entrepreneur Ann Winblad.
She had even ordered their housekeepers not to give Gates a direct phone number when a woman called their home.
The book says that Melinda French Gates “genuinely believed being married would make a difference because of her deep belief in its sanctity,” but Bill Gates thought that “love and marriage can often mean two different things.”
New book will be published soon
The book is all set to release on August 13 states that Bill Gates “flirted with some of the interns at the Gates Foundation, putting them in the uncomfortable position of having to think about their career prospects while not wanting to be hit on by the boss,”
However, a former Microsoft executive claimed that “He’s not Harvey Weinstein… I know of no real situation in which anyone got anything for sleeping with Bill.”
and told Das that Gates did not “prey on” women or ask sexual favors in exchange for career advancement.
