Google made headlines last month when it introduced the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series, which came packed with a range of innovative AI features. Among these groundbreaking additions were Pixel Studio for creative enthusiasts, an enhanced Magic Eraser tool for seamless editing, and the cutting-edge Gemini Live feature, which allows users to engage in natural conversations.
Initially exclusive to those holding a Gemini Advanced subscription, recent developments suggest that Google is now making Gemini Live accessible to all Android users at no cost.
All of Gemini’s responses will appear in the history section
As reported by 9to5Google, activating this exciting new feature is as simple as opening the Gemini app on your device and locating the “new circular waveform with a sparkle icon in the bottom right corner” within the app interface.
Users who touch the symbol will see a fullscreen window with buttons labeled “Hold” and “End” at the bottom of the screen. According to the article, users can even close the fullscreen UI to carry on using their phone and communicate with Gemini at the same time.
To stop Gemini Live, either tap the notice or say “Stop”. When a conversation ends, Gemini will display a textual transcript of the prompts. Also, as with normal discussion, all of Gemini’s comments will display in the history area, which can be utilized to restart the conversation.
It also brings 10 new voices
Additionally, it adds ten new voices that are compatible with Gemini. Nevertheless, as of right now, the new feature is limited to devices with the English language setting.
Gemini Live, although currently lacking support for Gemini Extensions that provide the AI chatbot with access to Gmail, YouTube Music, and various other Google services, is undergoing future development to incorporate this sought-after functionality.
As stated by the tech giant, users can expect an update down the line that will enable Gemini Live to seamlessly integrate with these popular platforms, enhancing the overall user experience and utility of the chatbot service.
It is speculated that Google could be introducing the new free functionality gradually. Consequently, it is possible that a bit of patience may be required before it becomes accessible on your Android device, as it seems the rollout process may be taking its time to reach all users.
