As the days swiftly pass, Jonathan Haggerty, a respected world champion in two sports, is steadily growing more assured that he is making consistent strides towards reaching his optimal physical state for the much-anticipated Superlek rematch. This significant bout is scheduled to be the focal point of the highly awaited main event at ONE 168 in the vibrant city of Denver.
Aiming to redeem himself
The Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground fighter defends his ONE bantamweight title against ‘The Kicking Machine’ on September 6 at Ball Arena, six years after their first battle in England.
Aiming to redeem himself and put an end to the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship’s incredible 10-bout winning streak, ‘The General’ has left no stone unturned throughout his 13-week fight camp, which was mostly held at Lamai Muay Thai Camp in Koh Samui, Thailand.
In a YouTube video, Jonathan Haggerty discussed his form and training for heading in “The Land Of Smiles”, he said “Being around the whole culture, the scenario in Thailand is great for me, for my mindset, you know. Just putting myself in my Muay Thai body. I’ve still got a lot of training to do. We’re on the road to get this win.”
Haggerty is closely monitored by Ralph Beale
British Muay Thai fighter Jonathan Haggerty has relocated to Koh Samui after winning his title against Nong-O. He has also secured stoppage victories against Fabricio Andrade and Felipe Lobo in his first Muay Thai title defense.
While continuing to work under Christian Knowles of Knowlesy Academy, Haggerty is closely overseen by Ralph Beale, co-founder of Lamai Muay Thai Camp on the tropical island.
This should come in useful for the British star striker as he prepares to defend his title against Superlek, who hopes to join an elite group of two-sport world champions on one of the year’s most packed fight cards.
