Legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, widely revered for his cricket prowess, has found himself embroiled in a significant controversy upon being implicated in a murder case unfolding in his native country, thrusting him into a web of legal complexities that have captured widespread attention worldwide.

A 37-year-old man has been accused of involvement in the murder of Rubel Islam by the victim’s father, Rafiqui Islam. 

The case, which drew attention due to its high-profile individuals, such as the renowned cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, took place at Adabor Police Station. It was formally lodged there and later verified by Inspector Mohammad Nazrul Islam.

Shakib Al Hasan is currently playing for Bangladesh in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan in Pakistan, as both teams are part of the crucial WTC 2023-25 cycle, with the World Test Championship Final less than a year away.

According to Bangladesh News 24, former Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan is among the 156 individuals named in the murder case, in addition to Shakib Al Hasan and Sheikh Hasina.
