Taylor Swift has had to cancel three Vienna concerts due to two men arrested in an ISIS-connected terrorist plot against her upcoming concerts. The suspects were a 19-year-old who pledged allegiance to ISIS and another man.
Police raided the 19-year-old’s home in Ternitz and found chemicals and substances. Residents of Ternitz were evacuated and roads were closed during the raid.
The target of the attack was Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium
“Taylor Swift, The Eras Tour Vienna Shows were canceled due to government officials confirming a planned terrorist attack. With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.” The organizers wrote in a post on behalf of Austrian concert company Barracuda Music.
The attack targeted Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, where Swift was scheduled to perform on Friday and Saturday nights during her Eras Tour.
Concrete danger had been “minimized,” but that an “abstract danger” remained
During a press conference, Franz Ruf, the director of Vienna State Police, and Gerhard Purstl, the chief of police, revealed that they had both become radicalized online and appeared to have detailed plans on how the attack would be carried out.
Purstl emphasized the reduction of concrete danger at the event, yet highlighted the enduring presence of abstract danger, resulting in the unfortunate decision to cancel the shows. Rest assured, ticket holders can expect to receive their refunds within the specified timeframe of 10 days.
Only a few days ago, Morgan Wallen’s concert in Kansas City was postponed due to a “terroristic threat.” Now, word of the alleged terrorist attack has surfaced. The man was arrested in connection with a social media threat in which he stated that he was targeting two men who were backstage with Wallen, maybe Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
