On Tuesday, September 10th, a smaller regional airplane and a Delta Air Lines aircraft collided on the tarmac at Atlanta airport. The smaller plane’s tail sustained major damage in the crash, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the incident is being looked into by the FAA.

Collision at Atlanta Airport

Tuesday morning at an Atlanta airport, a Delta airliner struck the tail of another aircraft.The Federal Aviation Administration stated in a statement that Endeavor Air Flight 5526 was impacted by Delta Flight 295 as it was taxiing for takeoff at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport just after 10 a.m. According to Delta Air Lines, there have been no reports of casualties, and maintenance workers are assessing any damage.

The Endeavor Air flight was bound for Lafayette, Louisiana, and the Delta flight was bound for Tokyo. According to Delta, efforts are being made to rebook travelers.

As stated in a statement by Delta, passengers would be transferred to other planes. The airline reported that there were 221 passengers on the Airbus and 56 patrons on the small flight. According to Federal Aviation Administration data that is accessible to the public, the affected runway is closed, and other neighboring taxiways are closed as well.

What the FAA Said On The Collision?

“Endeavor Air Flight 5526’s tail was damaged by the wingtip of Delta Air Lines Flight 295 as it was taxiing for departure at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The destination of the Delta Airbus A350 was Tokyo. The FAA released a statement stating that the Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 was its route to Lafayette, Louisiana.

In response to the incident, Delta said it is working with the National Transportation Safety Board “and other authorities,” while the FAA said it is looking into what happened.

Airports Council International’s preliminary rankings for 2023 were issued in April, and they show that Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International ranked first in terms of passenger volume in 2023 and is projected to handle roughly 110 million people in 2024.
