Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos, known for his exceptional vision and passing, recently offered valuable advice to the young Uruguayan talent Federico Valverde, encouraging him to embrace a more daring approach during matches.
Having recently bid farewell to the realm of professional football after an illustrious career characterized by numerous accolades and triumphs at both club and international levels, the esteemed German midfielder concluded his time on the pitch, leaving behind a lasting legacy revered by fans and peers alike.
Kroos arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2014
Kroos was already well-known throughout the world when he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2014. But the German achieved enormous success and immortality with Los Blancos, taking home numerous championships.
At the end of the previous season, Kroos handed the Uruguayan midfielder his legendary No. 8 shirt and named him his successor.
With 10 victories in 13 games, Real Madrid has had a respectable start to the current season. In midfield, Federico Valverde has been a constant presence, starting every match.
It’s safe to say, though, that Toni Kroos has been missed by the Blancos this season. The La Liga powerhouses haven’t dominated games despite the firepower of Rodrygo Goes, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Junior.
The problems seem to be in midfield, according to a recent article from MARCA. During the previous season, Kroos completed 0.78 of the 0.98 changes he made per game. Most of them were performed to Dani Carvajal or Valverde.
The Uruguayan has been Carlo Ancelotti’s team’s best player this season, but it hasn’t been as good as Kroos’. The 26-year-old has completed 0.43 with 0.5 attempts per game.
Toni Kroos, however, showed faith in Valverde, he said “I believe in Fede and it’s time for him to take the risks I took on the pitch,”
This season, Valverde has played in 13 Real Madrid games in all competitions, with three goals and two assists.
Real Madrid might look for a new midfielder
Real Madrid might be persuaded to sign a fresh player to cover Toni Kroos’ absence. According to recent sources, they are considering Rodri, who would be a good fit for the position.
It won’t be simple to get the Spaniard to leave Manchester City, though, since his contract is set to expire in 2027. Pep Guardiola’s future may potentially be connected to the 28-year-old’s next move.
Joshua Kimmich, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires next summer, may potentially be a target for Los Blancos. Barcelona is pursuing the German midfielder, who has not yet agreed to a contract extension with the Bavarians.
Although Kimmich might be the best option to replace Toni Kroos in Real Madrid’s midfield, the club may decide against it when he turns 30 in February.
