Salem Al-Najdi, a Saudi youth international, was signed by Al-Nassr from Al-Fateh. Since Fernando Hierro was named their Sporting Director this summer, the Knights of Najd have been cautious with their spending.
Al-Nassr, a Saudi club, spent heavily in 2023, signing European players like Sadio Mane, Otavio, Laporte, Telles, and Brozovic. The club finished second in the Saudi Pro League, behind Al-Hilal.
The club has now signed Saudi U-21 star Salem Al-Najdi, who appeared 24 times, scored three goals, and assisted in defense, helping the team maintain two clean sheets.
The youngster has signed a deal that will keep him contracted to the club until 2029
Al-Najdi, a familiar face at Al-Nassr, scored in a 2-1 loss in the 2023-24 season. He signed a deal until 2029, battling with Alex Telles for a starting left-back spot, with funding provided by club president Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib. Director Hierro oversaw the negotiations.
Only Salem Al-Najdi is Al-Nassr’s second summer acquisition, following Brazilian custodian Bento from Athletico Paranaense. On Saturday, August 17, when the team plays rivals Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final, the youthful left-back will be available for selection.
Ronaldo delivered a goal and an assist to book a ticket against Al-Hilal
As Al-Nassr defeated Al-Taawoun on August 14 to guarantee their spot in the Saudi Super Cup final, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a pertinent reminder of his class. The Portuguese sensation scored a goal and provided an assist as his team defeated Al-Hilal 2-0 to secure a spot in the next round.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed a penalty in Euro 2024, scored a goal in the 57th minute to help Al-Nassr defeat Al-Taawoun.
Al-Hilal, the defending champions aim to retain the title, and Ronaldo and his teammates will aim to spoil the party for their rivals, who beat them in the semi-final last season.
