In a groundbreaking development for the esports industry, the ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has been appointed as the official operating partner of the Esports World Cup, the largest esports competition ever held. This multi-year partnership was announced on Tuesday and is set to significantly enhance the tournament’s operations and programming.
Currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Esports World Cup is already showcasing EFG’s extensive expertise and industry connections to create a platform that unites the best games, players, and clubs from around the globe.
“Esports World Cup is one of the most ambitious new global sports events to ever take place,” said Craig Levine, Co-CEO of EFG. He emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “It’s a historic step forward for esports’ global growth, and the results so far are a testament to the collaboration of both teams, our deep-rooted relationships with industry stakeholders, and our unrivaled understanding of how gamers celebrate esports.”
A New Era for Esports Competitions
As the official operating partner, EFG is tasked with managing tournament operations and broadcast programming, which aims to engage gaming audiences alongside mainstream sports and entertainment communities. EFG has also collaborated closely with the Esports World Cup to refine its product offerings and develop a robust global marketing strategy.
Earlier this year, EFG successfully hosted global qualifiers across various regions, including North and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. These qualifiers determined the world’s best players, who are currently competing on the Esports World Cup stage.
“The Esports World Cup is delivering premier competition at a scale never seen before,” stated Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation. He added, “EFG’s operational excellence and industry-leading experience have been invaluable as we execute this world-first event.”
Unprecedented Prize Pool and Festival Activities
The Esports World Cup, which commenced on July 3 and runs until August 25, has transformed Riyadh into the epicenter of esports culture. The event features 22 game championships and offers a staggering prize pool of over $60 million, the largest in esports history. This unprecedented financial incentive has attracted top-tier talent and created a thrilling atmosphere for fans and players alike.
In addition to the competitive events, the Esports World Cup includes a variety of festival activities, such as interactive gaming activations, community tournaments, and pop culture celebrations. These activities aim to engage the 3.4 billion gaming fans worldwide, providing them with a unique spectacle that highlights the passion and competitive spirit of esports.
