Short And Streep Reunite For Season 4 At Only Murders In The Building

On August 22, The co-stars Meryl Streep and Martin Short reunited at Only Murders in the Building for the fourth season at the premiere in Los Angeles. 

“Just Very Good Friends”

The co-stars came together nearly eight months after Short declined the rumors of his relationship with Streep, who he seemed particularly close to at the Golden Globes in 2024.  

The pair are “just very good friends, nothing more,” A source close to Short told People. Later on Bill Maher’s podcast, the actor shut down the claims again as he said that the pair are “not a couple, we are just very close friends.” 

Moreover, Short commented on the interest in his relationship with Streep, As People confirmed that Streep had separated from her husband of 45 years, Don Gummer,  six years prior by saying “It’s always interesting. Show business relationships and spec.”

“She’s fabulous. There’s no one who doesn’t adore her,” said Short 

Short Getting Nervous When Headed to Set 

In the Premiere, Streep was seen dressed in a black and white printed Stella McCartney dress with a wide belt, styled with slip-on flats and a white clutch styled by Micaela Erlanger. While Short opted for a classic black suit paired with a burgundy tie featuring grey designs.

Although the couple denied the rumors. However, Short revealed that he was more nervous heading to the set than usual when the Mamma Mia! star joined OMITB for season 3, 

“I remember driving to work and thought, ‘Gee, this is odd. I’m a little bit [nervous]. Oh, of course! I’m going to do a two-person scene with Meryl.”

“It’s a very, very, very loose, fun-filled set. I think everyone has the same review of that working on the show — that it’s really fun and loose — and that’s kind of the philosophy of Steve, the way he’s always worked, and so is Selena [Gomez].”

“Everyone works in joy and happiness, because we’re lucky people,” he added.
