On Saturday, August 10th, during a TikTok livestream, Anderson offered to assume paternity of the Blanchard’s baby after the announcement of her pregnancy with her current boyfriend, Ken Urker.
The Complicated Story
Ryan Anderson and Gypsy Rose Blanchard married in 2022 while Blanchard was in prison. Although their marriage was legal under Louisiana law, their relationship fell apart, leading Blanchard to file for divorce.
Blanchard explained her new relationship with Ken Urker developed over time. “Ken and I reconnected as friends,” she said. “We didn’t rush into anything. While I was with Ryan and Ken was with someone else, we just stayed friends and wished each other well.”
After her marriage to Anderson ended, Blanchard reached out to Urker. “I wanted to spend time with him since we never had the chance while I was in prison,” she told PEOPLE. “Ken is my first true love. Our connection is real, not just a fantasy.”
Blanchard revealed her pregnancy in a YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far,” posted on Tuesday, July 9. “I know there have been many rumors, and I’m excited to share that I’m 11 weeks pregnant,” she said.
She added, “Ken and I are expecting our first child in January 2025. It wasn’t planned and was a surprise, but we’re both excited to start this new chapter together.”Following this video Blanchard’s estranged husband asked for the paternity test.
Louisiana Paternity Law
Under Louisiana law, if a mother is married to someone other than the biological father at the time of conception or has been divorced for less than 300 days when the baby is born, her husband or ex-husband is presumed to be the father unless the biological father’s paternity is established.
For Urker to be listed as the father on the birth certificate, Anderson must sign a document acknowledging Urker as the father. If Anderson refuses, Urker will need to go to court, and all three will have to undergo a DNA test to determine the child’s paternity.
