Salma Hayek Commends Maddox and Pax Jolie-Pitt for Their Dedication on the Set of ‘Without Blood’
During the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, Salma Hayek shared insights about working with Maddox and Pax Jolie-Pitt, sons of actress and director Angelina Jolie. Both young men took on roles in the assistant director department for the film Without Blood, which their mother wrote and directed.
Salma Hayek, who stars in the war drama, revealed that Maddox, 23, and Pax, 20, were nothing short of professionals on set. “They work hard,” Hayek said in an interview with People. She emphasised that despite being close to them personally, they maintained a professional demeanour throughout the production. Hayek further added, “They were serious and respectful with the crew, ensuring they earned everyone’s admiration.”
The Importance of Professionalism
Despite her relationship with the Jolie-Pitt family, Hayek shared that she had to shift her approach when interacting with Maddox and Pax.
Initially playful, she realised that treating them as professionals was key to maintaining respect on set.
“At the beginning, I teased them,” Hayek said, “but I had to change and treat them as I would any other crew member.” She admitted that this was crucial to ensuring a healthy working environment.
Angelina Jolie’s Directing Style and Sons’ Role
Angelina Jolie, known for being meticulous and demanding on set, set high expectations for her sons as well.
Hayek noted that Jolie did not hold back when working with her sons, expecting them to meet the same standards as any other crew member.
“She’s demanding. They were focused, dedicated, and committed to their roles,” Hayek shared. Both sons had previously worked on other film projects, which helped them fit seamlessly into the production of Without Blood.
