Robert Downey Jr is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this time he will not play his role as Iron Man. Downey will be seen playing the Marvel villain Doctor Doom in a new Avengers Movie titled Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers. They previously directed Downey as Iron Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, and ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Gwyneth Paltrow, his close friend, is also confused about her co-star Robert Downey Jr returning as the villain, Doctor Doom. Paltrow expressed her confusion in the comment section of the post and wrote, “I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?” The Russo Brothers, who are also returning to the Marvel universe, commented, “We’ve always said green is your color.” “Hey Brat, green suits you,” wrote actor Mark Ruffalo, who famously played The Hulk in MCU.
Storyline of Doomsday
In 2011, a multi-issue comic was released titled Ultimate Comics: Doomsday, in which the Fantastic Four teamed up with various Marvel superheroes in hopes of stopping a mysterious villain trying to destroy their timeline. This could be the storyline although the official plot hasn’t been released yet
As per comics, they eventually discover that the mysterious villain is a familiar, heroic face who turned bad in the multiverse, perfectly setting for the ultimate return of Downey Jr.
