Captain Sandy Yawn has broken her silence after Captain Lee Rosbach named her his “least favourite” from the Below Deck franchise.
Captain Sandy’s Response to Captain Lee’s Surprising Comment
During an interview on October 26, Captain Sandy Yawn responded to Captain Lee Rosbach’s recent public critique. The Below Deck star admitted she was taken aback by Lee’s comments, revealing she doesn’t understand the reasoning behind his words. “I don’t know what I did,” Sandy shared with Us Weekly at the Hayu FanFest in London.
Despite Lee’s comments, Sandy held no resentment toward her former co-star, instead wishing him well. Sandy, 59, further added that she doesn’t know what is happening in Lee’s life, choosing instead to focus on positivity. “I love people, I love puppies, and I love life,” she stated, underscoring her commitment to maintaining a healthy perspective.
Lee’s critique stemmed from his professional interactions with Sandy. The pair first worked together in Season 10 of Below Deck, where Sandy filled in for Lee during his health recovery.
Captain Lee Explains His Critique of Captain Sandy
Lee’s recent comments on his “Nightcap” tour startled fans when he named Sandy as his least favourite co-star. When asked why, Lee remarked, “We all know why. I don’t like her.” He elaborated that while he doesn’t need to like everyone he works with, he values professionalism and transparency.
Lee’s issues with Sandy appear to stem from her leadership choices during her stint on Below Deck Season 10. In January 2023, Lee publicly voiced his dissatisfaction over Sandy’s decisions, particularly her firing of two crewmembers without informing him directly. In his view, Sandy’s approach lacked the respect he expected from a fellow captain.
Despite this, Lee clarified that his comments weren’t meant to question her skills. “My issue was not with her decisions, but with not receiving a simple update,” he said, emphasizing his desire for mutual respect.
Moving Forward: Where Captain Lee and Captain Sandy Stand
Over time, Sandy has sought to address their issues, even reaching out to Lee in an attempt to clear the air. According to Sandy, the two have different approaches to leadership, which she sees as part of their natural differences. “I tried to call him,” she told Us Weekly. “I’m here to love and live, and that’s it.”
Lee, 74, later spoke on the Amy and T.J. podcast in April, confirming they still don’t see eye to eye. “There’s a lot of people I don’t like, but I respect them,” he shared. He also acknowledged that their differences are professional and nothing personal.
The captains’ relationship continues to interest Below Deck fans as they navigate their complex professional relationship. Although they may never be close friends, both captains recognize each other’s success within the franchise.
