Tesla’s senior employee count is decreasing, with a longtime employee, Sreela Venkataratnam, leaving the company.
Venkataratnam, who has worked at Tesla since 2013, began her 11-year tenure as Director of Finance Operation and later became Senior Director Finance.
She subsequently held the position of Vice President of Finance and Business Operations from June 2019 to June 2024.
“I bid farewell to Tesla”
Two days ago, she made the announcement on LinkedIn that she was leaving the automaker. Despite being pleased with her accomplishments and the company’s expansion over the years, she ultimately confirmed her departure in a letter this week.
She wrote “After 11 incredible years, I bid farewell to Tesla. Reflecting on this journey, it has been nothing short of extraordinary.”
Tesla’s former Vice President of Operations, Venkataratnam who has been involved in the company since its inception, proudly claims to be one of the only two female VPS. She expresses pride in the accomplishments made together with Elon Musk, despite the company’s initial financial struggles.
“You did it right, Sreela”
Jason Wheeler, Tesla’s former CFO, also commented in support of Venkataratnam’s decision. He wrote “You did it right, Sreela. Congrats on an amazing run at a company that wasn’t always easy to work at. Bravo!”
Former VP replied to Wheeler saying “It is definitely not for the faint of heart! It was great working with you especially during those tough days!”
It turns out that Venkataratnam really needs a break from the crazy chaos and mind-numbing fatigue. She states on her LinkedIn profile that she will take a sabbatical before looking for new job prospects.
Venkataratnam’s departure comes months after the corporation cut more than 10% of its workers. In April, Tesla Motors’ CEO informed staff that the firm needs to be “absolutely hard core about headcount and cost reduction.”
