Real Madrid have confirmed that Jude Bellingham has undergone successful shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for at least six weeks. This means the English midfielder will miss the start of the 2025-26 La Liga season, which begins on August 19 against Osasuna.
Bellingham suffered a shoulder dislocation during a league match in November 2023 and has been playing with a brace since then. He chose to delay surgery to represent Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup. However, after their semifinal exit to PSG, the club decided it was time for medical intervention.
Key Games Bellingham Will Miss
Alongside La Liga matches, Bellingham is expected to miss some of Real Madrid’s early Champions League fixtures and England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September. His return is likely to be timed for El Clasico against Barcelona in late October.
The midfielder has already played 100 matches across all competitions for Madrid since joining from Borussia Dortmund for $114 million (around Rs 979 crore). He has scored 38 goals and assisted 27 times since the 2023-24 season.
Bellingham is likely to miss the Madrid derby against Atletico on September 29 but could return to full training in early October depending on his rehabilitation progress.
