Bitter bad blood swelled between President Donald Trump and top Democrat Nancy Pelosi at his State of the Union speech on Tuesday, where Trump snubbed her outstretched hand in the meeting, followed by Pelosi’s reaction of ripping apart a copy of his remarks after the programme.
Trump avoided the subject of his impeachment farce in a combative 80-minute speech, while the cicatrix from the dirty fight was quiet evident with fellow Republicans giving him standing plaudits, contrasted by the rival Democrats seating for the most part in the confrontation.
The Fuelling Battle
The Republican-led Senate was expected to acquit him on Wednesday of abusive charges that he obstructed Congress in unlawful power relations.
From the White House meeting where Pelosi for the first time stormed out four months ago, this time she appeared to be taken aback by his behaviour who didn’t cite the customary “high privilege and distinct honour” that usually accompanies the speaker’s introduction of the president to Congress.
She started saying, “Members of Congress, the President of the United States”. After Trump’s speech, Pelosi stood up tearing his copy of the remarks and told reporters that it was “the courteous thing to do, considering the alternative.”

Attitude Speaks A Lot More Than Words
The sign highlighted little legislative progress over the next year as resentful feelings developed between the two in the past. As he began the speech, Republicans from both houses of Congress chanted “four more years”. However, the Democrats sat silently while some shook their heads as Trump declared, “The state of our union is stronger than ever before.” Pelosi, who dropped her opposition to impeachment and allowed Democratic lawmakers to seek the charges against him, remained aloof and stern-faced behind Trump paging through a paper copy of Trump’s accent.
