Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are reportedly exploring opportunities to buy a MotoGP team. With Liberty Media’s growing influence in the sport and Guenther Steiner’s recent arrival as Tech3 CEO, MotoGP is attracting serious interest from Formula 1’s biggest names.
Hamilton’s Longstanding Interest
Hamilton’s passion for motorcycles is well known. He has previously ridden superbikes with Mercedes colleagues and expressed interest in MotoGP’s commercial potential. His team, backed by TWG Motorsports, has held talks with multiple private outfits, including Gresini, though no deal has materialized yet.
Verstappen’s Cautious Approach
Verstappen’s manager Raymond Vermeulen confirmed the Dutch driver’s interest but downplayed immediate plans. While Tech3 is no longer available, Verstappen’s camp has reportedly contacted LCR and other private teams to explore possibilities.
MotoGP’s Private Teams in Demand
With factory teams like Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, KTM, and Aprilia off the table, only a handful of independent squads remain viable for acquisition. As MotoGP prepares for a new era of global expansion, the entry of Verstappen or Hamilton could reshape the sport’s ownership landscape
