Rangers have confirmed the signing of Max Aarons on a season-long loan from Bournemouth, marking Russell Martin’s first acquisition as head coach. The 25-year-old right-back, who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Valencia, is eager to make his mark in Glasgow.

“I think I can bring that experience, I can bring a new energy, and I think Rangers fans can be excited,” Aarons said after joining the squad.

Aarons will compete with James Tavernier for the starting spot, especially with Dujon Sterling sidelined due to injury.

Aarons’ Career So Far

Aarons rose to prominence at Norwich City, making over 200 appearances and winning two Championship titles. He joined Bournemouth in 2023 for a reported £7 million but struggled for game time, making just four appearances last season before heading to La Liga.

Despite interest from Premier League and Championship clubs, Aarons chose Rangers, reuniting with Martin, who knew him from their time at Norwich.

“He is a wonderfully talented player who is hungry to develop,” said Martin. “I believe he will be a fantastic addition to the squad”.

What This Means for Rangers

Aarons’ arrival adds depth and competition to the right-back position and signals a fresh tactical direction under Martin. With Champions League qualifiers looming and a new domestic campaign ahead, Aarons’ pace, experience, and versatility could prove vital.
