Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have officially signed Colombian winger Luis Diaz from Liverpool in a deal worth £65.5 million. The 28-year-old has agreed to a four-year contract, ending his three-and-a-half-year tenure at Anfield.
Diaz’s Liverpool journey comes to a close
Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 from FC Porto and quickly became a fan favorite with his pace, flair, and attacking threat. He scored 41 goals in 148 appearances and played a key role in Liverpool’s domestic and European campaigns, including their 2024–25 Premier League title win.
Transfer drama and Bayern’s persistence
Liverpool initially rejected Bayern’s opening bid of £58.6m earlier this month. However, the German club returned with an improved offer of £65.5m, which was accepted over the weekend. Diaz was subsequently left out of Liverpool’s pre-season match against AC Milan amid transfer speculation.
Bayern’s attacking strategy takes shape
Diaz’s arrival signals Bayern’s intent to reinforce their wide options. He is expected to link up with Harry Kane and Leroy Sane in a dynamic front line. The move also reflects Bayern’s broader transfer strategy to add experienced, high-impact players to their squad.
