A Quiet Place: Day One Hits Netflix Soon

The much-awaited prequel A Quiet Place: Day One will finally begin streaming on Netflix from November 14, 2025. The film, headlined by Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn, is part of Paramount’s expanding horror universe. It takes viewers back to the terrifying origins of the alien invasion first introduced in A Quiet Place (2018).

Before landing on Netflix, the movie became available to buy or rent on Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube Movies in July 2024. It then made its streaming debut on Paramount+ on August 27, 2024, allowing fans an early chance to revisit the franchise. Depending on region, viewers can still find it on several of these services before the Netflix launch.

Story and Critical Reception

The story unfolds in the heart of New York City, where the first day of the alien apocalypse is shown through the eyes of Samira, played by Lupita Nyong’o. The film begins with a quiet moment: Nyong’o’s character, who is battling terminal cancer, heads out for pizza with fellow patients — until the city descends into chaos. She soon faces the impossible task of surviving creatures that hunt with hyper-sensitive hearing.

Critics praised the film for its tense atmosphere and emotional depth, calling it a “near-perfect film.” While audiences were more divided — the movie holds a 6.3/10 rating on IMDb — it impressed reviewers with an 86 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Franchise Success and Viewing Details

Despite not bagging major awards, A Quiet Place: Day One strengthened the franchise’s legacy, which has earned over $900 million worldwide. The movie continues the tradition of silent terror and raw emotion that made the original films a hit.

Those drawn to intense alien thrillers will find this prequel both gripping and heartfelt. As it arrives on Netflix this November, fans can once again step into a world where silence is survival — and danger lurks in every sound.
