The leading cast of Joker: Folie à Deux attended the film’s premiere, which thrilled the fans at the Venice Film Festival on September 4. The crowd eagerly awaited a glimpse of their favorite stars including Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, and director Todd Phillips.
Received A Standing Ovation
Joker 2 has high expectations following the success of its predecessor, which made a significant impact during awards season. Whether the sequel can live up to the acclaim of Todd Phillips’ first film remains to be seen.
At the Film Festival, the new film Joker: Folie à Deuxgot received a standing ovation of 11 minutes. The film obtained praise for the works of both leading stars, Joaquin and Lady Gaga. Joaquin plays Joker, and his lover, Harley Quinn, plays Lady Gaga.
“We knew we had to swing for the fences; we wanted to create something as crazy and fearless as Joker himself,” Phillips wrote in his directors’ statement, reported by Times Of India.
“So, Scott Silver and I wrote a script that delved further into the idea of identity. Who is Arthur Fleck? And where does the music inside him come from?”
The Crowd Couldn’t Get Enough Of The Stars
Joaquin reached the festival a little early and took pictures with fans on the red carpet. And when Lady Gaga arrived on the red carpet, it created chaos as everyone wanted to get a picture with their favorite star, and asked for autographs. The paparazzi were asking for some shots of the singer-actor.
Gaga wore an elegant black dress and paired it with a beret and sunglasses. She on the way blew kisses and signed some autographs for the fans.
Lady Gaga caused a stampede-like situation when she descended from her balcony seat during the film’s screening. Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix did not wait for it to finish and left the event nine minutes into the applause.
