Brad Pitt’s legal team has consequently taken a jab at Angelina Jolie‘s request for the removal of the private judge in the couple’s divorce case, People has reported in recent times. They branded the appeal as “a thinly-veiled attempt by Jolie to delay the adjudication of long-pending custody issues in this case.”
Beyond the lines
If we go by the accounts of the Associated Press, it states that in the documents filed on Monday, the actress served to allege, “she was never afforded the opportunity to even raise a concern or to object to the ever-increasing business relationships between Judge Ouderkirk and [Pitt’s] counsel.”
A complete negation
It was on the next Thursday that the actor’s legal team filed papers claiming the engagements were “fully disclosed to Jolie.” Pitt even took to an argument stating Jolie “has never objected to [Ouderkirk’s] continued involvement in this proceeding until now,” as he further revealed Ouderkirk didn’t just maintain secrecy about the former dealings with both the parties’ lawyers. In the explanation, it was added that Jolie and her counsel had made a request to extend Ouderkirk’s work on the divorce case on three occasions.
Bearing the brunt
In the court filing, Pitt’s attorneys wrote, “Unfortunately, the individuals hurt most by Jolie’s transparently tactical gambit are the parties’ own children, who continue to be deprived of a final resolution to these custody issues”.
The heated battle
Jolie’s lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean however shared her thought about the controversial filing to the People who told, “Any delay in these proceedings is due to their zealous attempt to create an unrecognized special exception for their client’s benefit.” For a befitting reply, an unidentified individual “close to Pitt” countered the remark claiming, “This is the Judge who married them, someone who her team knew well and who her team actually introduced to the couple.”
