Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Major champion will next compete at the US Open 2024 in New York, starting from August 26 to September 8. However, As per the tournament organizers he has withdrawn from the upcoming Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Djokovic’s First Victory Title

The Serb was the defending champion in Cincinnati, Last year’s final, he saved a championship point against Carlos Alcaraz. He recently defeated the Spaniard in the final of the Paris Olympics 2024 to claim the elusive gold medal and achieve the Career Super Slam.

It was Djokovic’s first title victory of the season and 99th career title at the Paris Olympics. It would be a historic moment if he claimed his 100th title at the US Open, which would mark his 25th Major crown. He previously reached his first final of the year at Wimbledon, though lost to Alcaraz in a rematch of last year’s summit clash.

He Withdraws From Canadian Open

Following the victory at the Olympics, Djokovic then withdrew from the ongoing Canadian Open. He will enter the US Open with a warm-up event as he did last year at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

The 37-year-old defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final of last year’s US Open to secure his 24th Major title. This victory extended his lead among men and tied him with Margaret Court for the record. Moreover, it marked his fourth US Open title with his first win at the venue since 2018.

Djokovic Claims At Least One Major Title Every Year

The Serb has never won consecutive titles at the US Open. Djokovic reached the final in 2012 and 2016 as the defending champion but lost to Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka, respectively. But he also fell short in four other finals at the venue, with his most recent loss being to Medvedev in the 2021 final.

Except for 2017, Djokovic has claimed at least one Major title every year since 2011. He holds an 88-13 record at the US Open, the only major where he hasn’t yet surpassed 90 wins. However, he only needs to reach the third round to achieve that milestone, making it likely he will do so this year.
