Experts don’t see Meghan Markle and Prince Harry returning to the UK anytime soon. Recently royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said, “It has become clear that, having relocated to Los Angeles, that they see their future in the US.”
No future in the UK for the couple
The royal expert spoke about the Netflix deal the couple announced in September. “They achieved financial independence with a substantial deal with Netflix and another with Spotify for podcasts.” Meghan and Harry announced their multi-year deal with Netflix which is believed to be worth as much as £75 million. This will give the couple the status of producers of TV shows, children programming and documentaries.
Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also shared the news of a partnership between their newly-created production company Archewell Audio and Spotify. A trailer of a new show hosted by them was released some time ago where both spoke about their intention behind this project.

What’s next?
Ever since they decided to reject the royal status, Meghan Markle has been more vocal. The Dutch and Duchess of Sussex have been talking about a lot of issues. They spoke about the election in the US as well. Speaking in a video recorded for ABC’s Time 100 special in September, Meghan described the November 3 vote in the US as the “most important election of our lifetime”. Harry was heard admitting how he had never voted in his life.
According to a few royal watchers, the Duchess had political ambitions. Lady Colin Campbell was one such voice who told Daily Mail in June, “I know the Duchess of Sussex has political ambitions and I’ve been told that one day she wants to run for President. I think everything she is doing, leaving the Royal Family and moving back to California is part of her plan and she has taken Harry along with her.”
While speaking about the future plans of the couple, Mr Fitzwilliams recalled these claims and commented, “The way they have espoused activism has led many to anticipate a possible eventual future in politics for Meghan, who is an American citizen and is extremely articulate.”
