Carlos Yulo emerged from the 2024 Paris Olympics with two gold medals and an impressive array of rewards, including a three-bedroom condo valued at $553,000 and a lifetime supply of free ramen.
At just 24, Yulo made history as the first Filipino male athlete to win an Olympic gold medal, marking a significant milestone for the Philippines.
Yulo’s historic achievements included winning the men’s floor event with a score of 15.000 and clinching first place in the men’s vault event with 15.116 points just a day later. His back-to-back victories tripled the Philippines’ Olympic medal count from one to three in the country’s century-long participation history.
In recognition of his accomplishments, the government awarded him 10 million Philippine pesos. Besides the condo, Yulo received numerous other rewards, including a lifetime supply of free ramen, unlimited buffet entries, and other perks.
Yulo’s gold medals make him the first Filipino gymnast to achieve this feat and only the second Filipino ever to win an Olympic gold, following Hidilyn Diaz’s 2020 weightlifting victory.
$414k to $553k how Carlos’ condo got upgraded
Originally, Carlos Yulo was set to receive a two-bedroom condo worth $415,000 (24 million Philippine pesos) from Megaworld Corp. due to his Olympic success. However, following his double gold wins, the company upgraded the reward.
The reward was upgraded to a three-bedroom condo valued at $553,345 (32 million Philippine pesos). Located in the McKinley Hill township, the fully furnished flat is within a community of top athletes. Megaworld President Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso praised it as an ideal home for Filipino champions.
