On August 19, At Glyne Gap Field in East Sussex, England, A woman while performing an act in a circus show sustained “serious injuries” as per the People’s Report. She has been hospitalized as she suffered severe injuries after falling from a tightrope.
“Not Thought To Be Life-Threatening”
In a People report, Seacamb said they “were called at 4.45 p.m. on Monday that a person had fallen from height. The patient, an adult female, had suffered facial and other injuries consistent with a fall. She was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries, although her condition was not thought to be life-threatening.”
According to CBS News, A video of the incident shows the performer standing on a chair between two artists on a tightrope about 16 feet above the ground. She slowly sat on the chair’s back, lowered her legs, and leaned forward, but seemed to lose her balance and fell to the floor.
Injured After Falling From a Tightrope
As per BBC News, The performer injured was part of a High Wire Troupe act from Columbia performing with Gravity Circus
“It looked like her leg gave way. She lost balance and went flying down wrapped around the wire. She smashed down onto the metal floor.” said Hayley Welsh, who witnessed the fall
“Primary Concern is the Well-being of the Performer”
Gravity Circus confirms that the woman is doing fine in the comment section of Facebook.
The company said to People “We can confirm that an accident occurred last night involving one of our tightrope performers during the show,”
“In live entertainment and high-risk performances, accidents can unfortunately happen despite stringent safety measures. Our emergency protocols were immediately enacted, and the performer was promptly taken to the hospital,” they added
The company also added that the investigation is being held and their “primary concern is the wellbeing of the performer, the high wire troupe, and our entire circus family. The entire circus is deeply touched by the outpouring of support, love, and care shown by our customers and supporters during this difficult time.”
