Meghan Markle and Ellen DeGeneres are pretty good friends where Ellen recently met the Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor. The famous TV show host met the royal blood in the summer and couldn’t stop talking about it. But how did they both cross paths for the very first time?
The friendship story
The friendship between Meghan Markle and Ellen DeGeneres started in an interesting way and it involves Markle’s dog, Bogart. All the fans of her would remember Meghan had two dogs before she married to Prince Harry.
In an old interview with Best Health, Meghan had shared how she first met Ellen and urged her into adopting Bogart. The 38-year-old star previously said that Ellen and Meghan first met at an adoption centre back in November 2017. Meghan also said that she did not know her, personally. But Ellen convinced her to adopt the dog.
“Now, I don’t know her, but Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’” Meghan said. “It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something. I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like ‘You’re taking the dog home,’” she said earlier in an old interview.
After that, she walked outside to her car but instead of getting in she turned around, returned and tapped on the window and requested Meghan to take the dog. Because of Ellen, she brought the dog home. Because of the dog, Ellen eventually grew close to Meghan and their friendship became stronger.
