The Matrix fans have come up with some wild theories following the world’s first glimpse at the pair of Neo and Trinity since 2003’s The Matrix Revolutions, showing a completely different look for Reeves’ character.
The Unprecedented Prediction
The clip from the set showed Keanu and Carrie riding a motorcycle in San Francisco, followed by cameras as director Lana Wachowski watched on.
Reeves sported a long black jacket with a much longer hairdo for neo, which has led to people evaluating the actor is not playing Neo in the fourth Matrix film, but John Wick!
Even some of them have started thinking that John Wick has actually been Neo all the time, trapped in a Matrix-style simulation.
Resurgence Of Trinity
Kerick Howlett on Twitter highlighted that both John Wick’s fighting skills could be due to Neo having them uploaded into his brain in the first-ever Matrix film, which is traced back from 1999.
He also pointed out that Morpheus actor Laurence Fishburne’s presence in John Wick could enrol a larger meaning, stating John Wick begins with the hitman “grieving over the death of his one true love” that could actually be Trinity (Moss), who dies in The Matrix Revolutions.
Jada Pinkett Smith will, however, reprise the role of Niobe in the movie.
Forecast Predicts Simulation
Last year, it was revealed that the fourth instalments of both The Matrix and John Wick will be released on the same day in May 2021 which possibly suggests a crossover between the two. It would certainly be a high-concept gamble, especially if they serve as two parts of one story.
A tweeter asked, “What if we find out that John Wick is a simulation that’s happening inside The Matrix and the reason why The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 are releasing on the same day is that they’re about to drop this bomb on us?”
