How it all started?
Last year, Reeves met with BOOM! Studios to create something original which could later be adapted for another project. So there is a high possibility that if this series goes on the floor for the big screen it wouldn’t be a problem to find the lead cast since the actor himself is ready to play the Berzerker whenever it will happen.
While talking about his writing debut, everyone’s favourite Reeves said to USA TODAY, “I guess I’m in the writing room.”
Currently, the actor is in Berlin for the rehearsals of his iconic movie “Matrix 4” before the film resumes. He further shared that he’s been in touch with co-writer Matt Kindt through skype and they are very much excited about what’s happening. He revealed that the story will take some really interesting twists and turns too.
While talking about the story, Reeves shared that this character was born 80,000 years ago who is a half-man and his father’s a war god and there is a little fantasy in reality too.
He cited, “I had this image in my head of a guy fighting through the ages because of his father’s compulsion to violence” but with the pathos of a man “trapped and trying to figure it out.”
On the other hand, Boom! editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon has shared that it was a great experience working with the star. He lauded Reeves, saying he has exceptional creative instincts and deep wisdom on the story as well. Moreover, he has the ability to consistently work with the raw emotion of a moment alongside the quality which makes him an inspiring force as well.
Meanwhile, Kindt also opened up about the book. He told that Reeves has brought the creativity to the action and the back story of all the characters and Kindt’s fascination for history, conspiracies and espionage did the rest.
Reeves also recalled how he started liking comics when he was 9 or 10 years old. It started with ‘Richie Rich’ and then ‘Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers’ and some comics like ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Dark Knight’ etc. But he never thought of writing or drawing comics.
However, they have a first-look deal the online streaming platform Netflix so we might see him portraying the character in future as well. “I’d love to play Berzerker!” Keanu Reeves reveals his desire to play the role. “It’s a really fun story so if it’s not me, hopefully, someone can play it.”
