How many instalments of John Wick are you expecting in the near future? Lately, comicBook.com interviewed the John Wick producer and screenwriter Derek Kolstad to get an overall idea about the character of Wick within the franchise besides perceiving other plans for the upcoming days, regarding the number of movies the Wick world has to offer to the viewers across the timeline.
Signing for the last sequence
Although the franchise has a special stand at the box office in terms of its production budgets, its been reported that whoever has been part of the picture till date doesn’t seem interested to stick around with the role for another decade.
Maximum up to 5 follow-ups
However, director Chad Stahelski earlier this month disclosed his thoughts on John Wick: Chapter 4 that he indicated could serve as Keanu Reeves‘ last deal with the character in the Hollywood industry, while Kolstad also projected similar perceptions on the same. He admitted that his anticipation persists till making a Chapter 5 at the most where the swan song can serve to depict Reeves’ emeritus executioner.
Highlighting the significant role
Kolstad upheld the fact as he said, “He found something very special in John Wick that is very important to him, that is both spoken and unspoken,” while speaking about Reeves.
Then he added, “The idea being if we can… Shoehorn is the wrong word. It’s very negative, but if you can look at Chapter 4 and go, ‘Is it one long movie, or do you take your time, let it breathe, be its own creature as four and five? I think that’s where he would be incredibly happy. He’s taken ownership of this character.”
And that’s what Reeves intends to deliver towards the world when it comes to fix upon sequels. Rare but real!
