As the pandemic has befooled everything in the world at present, Lionsgate has deferred the next John Wick film for a complete year, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed. The movie which was scheduled to release on May 21, 2021, has now been postponed to May 27, 2022.
To the fandom’s extensive dismay
Although disappointing, you can’t help it as the move has prompted Keanu Reeves’ another action franchise to undergo a rescheduled release. Yet, Warner Bros. hasn’t mentioned any change in the tentative releasing date of The Matrix 4, which is expected to hit the theatres on May 21, 2021. Regardless to say, every decision counts in the present hour.
The unforeseen deferment
The globally acclaimed studio is also on the process of detaining many more from its movie list, inclusive of ‘Spiral’ which is the reboot of a series played by Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson Saw. The horror film was about to be released on May 15 but was then held up till May 2021 that took over John Wick 4’s original date. As all the cinema halls and production houses have seen subsequent closures due to the coronavirus outbreak, a dozen of other films from renowned studios have encountered unprecedented delays either by a few months or a year.
What’s more in the pipeline?
In fact, Lionsgate has also developed plans to serve John Wick’s descendants while working with Ballerina, that would be thoughtful inflation of the franchise based on a young executioner. It is being piloted by Underworld director Len Wiseman whose release date has not been fixed yet.
