Sevilla defender Loïc Badé has discussed his future amid speculation linking him with Liverpool. The Reds are reportedly considering the French defender as a possible replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who is in the final year of his contract with the club.
“I’m Very Happy Here”
France under-21 international Badé has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed Van Dijk, who has yet to be offered a contract extension by Liverpool. The former Nottingham Forest centre-back discussed his time at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and expressed his desire to stay at the club for the foreseeable future in an interview with MARCA.
“I’m focused on work. I spoke to (sporting director) Victor Orta and told him that I’m very happy here, the most important thing is that all parties are happy,” he stated, reported by Sportskeeda.
“I’ve changed clubs many times, but now I’m happy, I need stability and I’m in a place where I feel good, that’s why I wanted to continue at Sevilla. It’s my home, it’s the right and best place to give my best,” he further stated.
“I feel very good. I’m back with the group and I have a good feeling, it’s also good news to have extended my agreement. I’m very happy, if I could become captain later it would be great news for me,” he continued.
Loïc Badé is under contract with Sevilla until 2029, following a recent extension. The 24-year-old has appeared in three La Liga matches this season, contributing to one clean sheet for the team.
Van Dijk Leads Liverpool to Champions League Victory
Liverpool are entering a transitional phase, with key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both in their 30s and in the final year of their contracts.
The club has already signed Giorgi Mamardashvili as a potential successor to Alisson and will aim to replicate this strategy for their other key players.
Virgil van Dijk scored for Liverpool in their UEFA Champions League opener, leading them to a 3-1 comeback victory over AC Milan at San Siro.
Christian Pulisic put AC Milan ahead after just three minutes, but Ibrahima Konaté equalized for Liverpool 20 minutes later. Virgil van Dijk then scored four minutes before halftime to give Liverpool the lead.
Dominik Szoboszlai added Liverpool’s third goal in the 67th minute to complete the scoring for Arne Slot’s side in Italy. Federico Chiesa also made his debut as a late substitute for Liverpool in the match.
