Disney+ has officially canceled Goosebumps after two seasons, ending its latest adaptation of R.L. Stine’s iconic horror book series. Season 2, titled The Vanishing, premiered in January 2025 and starred David Schwimmer as a botanist caught in a supernatural mystery. Despite strong reviews and 118 million global viewing hours, the show failed to maintain its initial momentum.

Sony Pictures TV Plans Revival

Sony Pictures Television, which produced the series, is actively shopping Goosebumps to other streaming platforms. With over 200 original stories in Stine’s library, the franchise still holds massive potential. Sony is reportedly open to reimagining the format or launching spin-offs to reach broader audiences.

Anthology Format and Cast Highlights

The show’s anthology structure allowed each season to feature a new cast and storyline. Season 1 starred Justin Long and Isa Briones, while Season 2 introduced Schwimmer, Ana Ortiz, and Jayden Bartels. The format drew inspiration from Stine’s books, with each season exploring different horror themes and characters.

What’s Next for the Franchise

While Goosebumps won’t return to Disney+, fans may not have seen the last of the series. Sony’s existing deals with platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple TV+ make a revival possible. The original 1990s series and two feature films have proven the franchise’s staying power—and producers are determined to keep it alive.
