David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2 has expressed his desire to return to the Matrix franchise in the fourth film for Keanu Reeves. During Keanu Reeves’ Matrix: Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions, David Leitch worked as a member of the stunt team and since then he wanted to work in the Matrix franchise again and now he has become a director as well.

Although the development of a fourth Matrix film with director Lana Wachowski and actor Keanu Reeves is currently going on, the Deadpool 2 director David Leitch said he would love to work on in any capacity if he was asked. Even he referred to Wachowski as his mentor during their Matrix days.

“If Lana called and wanted me to do anything on that movie, I would come, I’d carry a c-stand or sandbags. I loved working with her and I loved working with her sister and I feel like I owe so much of my filmmaking background to working on not only the Matrix movies, but also Speed Racer, Ninja Assassin. They were great mentors to me, so if they call I’ll be there. Catering [even]!,” he said in an interview with ComingSoon.

However, his availability depends on what Marvel Studios have planned for the Deadpool franchise as its future is in doubt as of now after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

The Matrix as one of the famous franchises and they collectively earned a total of $1.6 billion at the box office across the globe. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss had portrayed Neo and Trinity there, respectively, in all three Matrix film series and each of the parts were directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski.

The Matrix 4 is reportedly released on early 2020 where Lana Wachowski is also a producer alongside Grant Hill.
