South Korean actor and former model Song Jae-rim has tragically passed away at the age of 39. Known for his memorable roles in Moon Embracing the Sun and the reality show We Got Married, Jae-rim was found dead in his Seoul apartment on November 12. 

Police reported no signs of foul play, and his family has requested no autopsy. A beloved figure in South Korean entertainment, his sudden passing has left fans and friends in shock, with tributes pouring in on social media, remembering his cheerful personality and radiant smile.

Sudden Passing Shocks Fans and Friends

The unexpected passing of Song Jae-rim, 39, has left the South Korean entertainment world in shock. Found deceased in his Seoul apartment on Nov. 12, Jae-rim was discovered by a friend with whom he had plans to meet for lunch, according to CNN and The Korea Herald. 

“Our initial investigation so far has revealed no signs of criminal activity,” Seoul Seongdong police informed CNN. The police confirmed that, at the request of his family, no autopsy will be conducted.

Fellow actors and fans alike have expressed their sorrow on social media. Actor Park Ho-san, sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, wrote, “This is mad… Jae-rim… you were such a cheerful guy… I can’t believe this. I’m so sorry for not contacting you or caring for you enough.” The post was accompanied by a photo of the two at a bar, capturing a moment of friendship now cherished.

A Legacy on Screen and Heartfelt Goodbyes

Song Jae-rim rose to fame with his role in the 2009 movie Actresses, and further solidified his career with performances in the 2012 drama Moon Embracing the Sun and the popular 2014 reality show We Got Married. 

According to Variety, Jae-rim’s final work, Get Rich, is currently in post-production, leaving fans awaiting one last glimpse of his talent.

Tributes have poured in from friends and industry colleagues, deeply saddened by the loss of a beloved figure.

Actor Hong Seok-cheon took to social media to pay his respects, saying, “I’m sad that I can’t see your wonderful smile again.” In a moving post, he reflected, “This situation is devastating where I can’t take care of them better and I have to let them go without greeting them ……. Sorry and again sorry………. Rest in peace.”
