Gabby Petito’s bereaved father delivered a heartfelt letter on Tuesday to mark the third anniversary of her murder.
Joseph Petito wrote on Instagram “3 years ago this evening you were taken from us. We can’t stop crying when we think of you. There is no waking up from this nightmare,”
He also added “We push forward for you and all those you have inspired and nothing can make us stop. I ask anyone who reads this, please share a #missingperson flyer today.”
He posted a photo of the father-daughter, Gabby and Joseph, sharing a heartfelt moment with a fish bath, allowing the tiny creatures to nibble on their dead skin, tickling them in the process.
The photographed moment is a familiar one
The photograph of the joyous memory is familiar; Joseph Petitio released it just five months previously to commemorate Gabby’s 25th birthday. “We love and miss you,” he stated at the time.
The dad’s social media post received hundreds of comforting replies. A considerable number of commenters attributed their decision to end their own unhealthy relationships to Gabby Pepito’s experience.
Gabby’s story saved a woman’s life three years ago, allowing her to leave her abusive ex of six years. The woman’s story woke her up to her toxic reality and gave her the courage to fight for herself and her son.As they approach year three of leaving home and starting over, they are grateful for Gabby’s support.
One woman wrote, “I love you Gabby.” Another woman expressed her gratitude for her courage and the support she received from her daughter.
Last month Joseph Petito slammed the Utah police department
The anniversary coincides with the family’s ongoing battle to preserve Gabby Petito’s legacy. Joseph Petito criticized the Utah Police Department last month when they attempted to dismiss his $50 million lawsuit against them for allegedly failing to save his daughter.
The Moab Police Department allowed Gabby Petito to drive away with her future killer, Brian Laundrie, after intervening in a domestic dispute. Laundrie strangled Petito to death and disposed of her body in a remote Wyoming camping area.
A couple were traveling in an RV during a trip. Laundrie reported her missing and returned to Florida without Petito, sparking a nationwide search.
Laundrie later committed suicide in a national park and admitted to the murder in a handwritten note.
