Laura Dern recently opened up about her experience filming intimate scenes with Liam Hemsworth for their new Netflix film, Lonely Planet. The actress praised Hemsworth, referring to him as “the safest person” to work with during these sensitive moments. Their collaboration not only highlighted their professional rapport but also emphasized the importance of comfort and communication in filmmaking, especially when it comes to intimate scenes.
About the movie
The film centers on reclusive novelist Katherine Loewe (Dern), who meets and subsequently falls in love with a young man called Owen Brophy (Hemsworth) while visiting a writer’s retreat in Morocco.
The “Jurassic Park” actor went on to say that the contemporary filmmaking process was “amazing” since it enabled performers to “set boundaries” and maintain their comfort level with one another during intimate sequences.
“It’s amazing how film and filmmaking have evolved to allow everyone to be confident in their voice and set boundaries without worrying about losing their job or becoming unpopular,” she said.As young performers, we have both had a wide range of different movie-related experiences.
The lead actors clicked instantly
Dern stated she hoped a sequel was in the works because she enjoyed working with the “Hunger Games” actress on “Lonely Planet.” “I’m definitely feeling a sequel,” she stated.
Hemsworth had previously stated that he only agreed to the film in order to collaborate with Dern. “There are no tricks on this one,” the 34-year-old actor stated in an interview with Screen Rant. “From the moment we sat down and met, we clicked. I came onto this project because Laura was a part of it already; the chance to work with Laura was a huge opportunity for me, and I was so excited by that. But coming into it, I’d heard great things about her,” he stated.
