On Monday, Sept. 30, Hailey, 27, shared a photo with Abloh in her wedding dress as a tribute to the late designer on his 44th birthday, along with additional wedding photos celebrating her fifth anniversary with Justin Bieber.
Hailey Honors Abloh on His Birthday
In the photo shared on her Instagram Stories, Hailey walked arm-in-arm with Abloh, wearing the off-white lace wedding gown he designed for her, complete with a sweeping veil covering her face.
“Happy Birthday V, we miss you! Thank you for making me the most magical wedding dress. ,” Hailey captioned the post.
Hailey’s tribute to Abloh comes three years after his death from cancer on November 28, 2021. The two remained close friends until his passing. In addition to designing her wedding dress, Abloh attended her wedding to Justin in South Carolina on September 30, 2019.
This came one year after Hailey and Justin secretly wed in a New York City courthouse on September 13, 2018.
Hailey shared a second photo from her South Carolina wedding day, featuring herself and husband Justin, 30, kissing in their bridal attire on a lawn at night. She captioned the image “5 ✨,” celebrating their special anniversary.
The long train of Hailey’s wedding dress flowed behind her as she faced away from the camera, showcasing the embroidered words “‘Till Death Do Us Part” across it.
“Virgil Has Kind Of Always Just Been In My Corner”
The Rhode founder appeared in a final photo, posing to the side in her off-the-shoulder wedding dress without the veil, with “” added over the image.
Reflecting on her wedding in a 2019 interview with Vogue, Hailey mentioned that she knew “from day one” that she wanted Abloh to design her wedding dress.
“I didn’t want somebody who was a wedding dress designer. I just feel like my style and my street style is such a part of who I am. Virgil has kind of always just been in my corner since the beginning,” she said.
Abloh, who had never designed a bridal gown before, shared his thoughts on the experience with Vogue, saying, “The gratifying side about designing for Hailey, in this case, is I know her personality. For her, I wanted something fun and youthful just the same, but still traditional.”
